SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Rudy Gay said he didnt harbour a sense of revenge Wednesday night facing his former team -- the Toronto Raptors-- for the first time since a December trade. His numbers said it all. DeMarcus Cousins had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Gay added 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the Kings held off the Raptors in the fourth quarter for a 109-101 victory. The Dec. 9 trade brought Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray to Sacramento in exchange for Patterson, John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez and Chuck Hayes. The trade has worked well for both teams. Since the shake-up, the Raptors have compiled an 18-11 record and own the third best overall record in the Eastern Conference. They had an 8-12 mark before the deal. Gay has thrived in his role as a key figure offensively. The versatile forward has averaged 20.7 points and shot 53 per cent in his first 25 games with the Kings. Gay wasnt nearly as effective with the Raptors, shooting just under 39 per cent in his second season in Toronto. "It was great to see Rudy have such a successful game tonight," said Gray, who didnt play. "No matter what the scenario, its really important when you go against your ex-team. You always want to show them what theyre missing. I think Rudy did that." Toronto coach Dwane Casey wished his team was a little more focused on effort rather than the socializing that took place between the two teams. "I just thought our whole disposition was off. Were out there hugging and giving out fives and all that," Casey said. "Well, this is a business. I didnt think our disposition at the beginning of the game was in fighting mode or hungry mode. We havent done anything, Ill keep repeating this, we havent done anything in this league yet." The Kings led by 20 points going into the final quarter, when Toronto got going offensively and cut the lead to five points with under a minute to play. But the Kings converted six consecutive free throws in the final minute to seal their second straight victory after losing seven straight. "I think we kept our composure, were very poised down the stretch, and came out with a good home victory," Cousins said. Kyle Lowry had 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Raptors, who had won four of their last five. Demar DeRozan scored 18 points, Patrick Patterson 14 and Steve Novak 12, all in the fourth quarter. DeRozan, who entered the game averaging 22 points, shot 5 of 17. He added six rebounds and four assists. Novak played only 34 seconds through three quarters, but in the fourth he hit three three-pointers, helping the Raptors outscore the Kings 29-17. "The game was bizarre; we made it interesting," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Im glad they didnt play Steve Novak more or it would have been a long night." Isaiah Thomas added 23 points for the Kings and guard Marcus Thornton had 12, all in the first half. Thornton hit the floor hard at the offensive end late in the second quarter and didnt return. He bruised hip and knee in the fall, but X-rays were negative. He may get an MRI on Thursday. New NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who took over for David Stern on Saturday as the leagues fifth commissioner, attended the game. He drew a standing ovation when he was introduced to the sellout crowd Before the game, Silver toured Sacramentos planned downtown arena and sat with the Kings new ownership group during a portion of the game. NOTES: The Kings played without reserve forward Derrick Williams, who was out with a strained right foot. ... Despite shooting 37.5 per cent in the first quarter, Sacramento still led 30-23. ... Winnik has missed two games after hitting his head on the ice in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. Jonathan Bernier will get the start in goal. The Leafs are coming off Sundays 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators in a game that was originally scheduled for Oct. 22 but postponed due to the tragic shootings at the National War Memorial and Parliament Hill. The win gave Toronto a second straight victory and points in six of its last seven (5-1-1). Mike Santorelli netted a go-ahead short-handed tally in the second period as part of three unanswered goals for the Maple Leafs, while Peter Holland finished with a goal and an assist. James van Riemsdyk, Josh Leivo and David Clarkson added goals to support 37 saves by James Reimer. We kind of started off a bit slow, said Santorelli. We kept climbing our way back and stuck with it. Toronto was coming off a home win over the New York Rangers the previous night and is likely to go back to Jonathan Bernier in net tonight even though he is only 1-3-0 with a 4.46 GAA and .876 save percentage in five games against the Bruins. Bernier made 21 saves before getting pulled in the third period of a 4-1 loss at home to the Bruins on Oct. 25. The Bruins aim to extend their winning streak to six straight games as they begin a stretch of back-to-back contests against division rivals. The Bruins kept their longest win streak of the season intact with Mondays 4-2 triumph over the New Jersey Devils, a contest highlighted by a spectacular game-winning goal by Seth Griffith. Griffith put the Bruins up 3-2 with 1:59 to play in the second period as he blocked a shot and raced up the ice into the New Jersey zone. The forward lost the puck as he tried to battle through a pair of Devils defenders and managed to backhand a shot through his own legs and in with his back to the net. It was big because we were definitely under pressure for maybe four, five minutes in a row, said Reilly Smith, who sscored 1:20 after Griffith and also had an assist.dddddddddddd Griffith kind of changed that whole thing at the end of the period, which is nice because we werent playing great hockey right there and that kind of changed the momentum at least. Patrice Bergeron finished with a goal and two assists, while Carl Soderberg also scored. Tuukka Rask made 26 saves. The win finished off a perfect four-game homestand and has the Bruins in position to win six in a row for the first time since a 12-game run from March 2-22 of last season. Boston also saw the return of defenseman Torey Krug, who had been out since suffering a broken finger against Minnesota on Oct. 28. However, forward David Krejci did not play for the third time in four games because of a lower-body injury and was not expected to travel with the Bruins for tonights game or Wednesdays contest in Montreal. With Boston set to play on back-to-back nights against Atlantic Division rivals, it is unknown if Rask will start tonight or if rookie backup Niklas Svedberg will get the call. Rask is 10-2-0 with a 1.59 goals against average and .945 save percentage in 14 career games versus the Leafs, including 12 starts, while Svedberg has never faced them. He is 2-2-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .940 save percentage overall this season. Dougie Hamilton had a goal and two assists, while Krejci, Soderberg and Gregory Campbell scored. Rask made 32 saves in the Bruins 12th victory in their last 15 versus the Maple Leafs and seventh in the last 10 trips to Toronto.
